on the remix duty probably the two biggest names in electronic music at the moment: danny freakazoid and klaas! the original mixes go out a bit more housy with lovely breaks and catchy vocals that increase into a rocking synth theme. the klaas remix features big guitar breaks including the original vocals and the typical huge and boombastic klaas synths. danny freakazoid as the master of intelligent electro delivers two excellent remixes in full freakazoid effect. nothing more to say - this is a bomb!

word we werent expecting this! this fine platter kicks off with a deft mash up of paris greys dont lead me and neurotic behaviour by psyche (carl craig) and then launches into a beefed up edit of derrick mays kaos. on the b-side is a re-edit of the kevin saunderson remix of we know it by the wee papa girl rappers. we dont know who did this and nor do we care. its a perfect party record for peak time dance floor lunacy. nothing innovative, nothing new but just adding a new twist to old classics and doing it with style. highly recommended

detroit s new >soundshift< imprint makes a stunning debut with this intoxicating two-tracker. opening up is the soultek remix of billy dalessandro s smashing >don t sleep< release (which was found in the many sets of dan bell, ame, annie mac & pete tong last month) this mix is nothing short of brilliant and will certainly capture the hearts and sets of all those mathew jonson or loco dice fans out there. it has a subtlety that really creeps up on you and before you know it you re tapping your feet and zoning out listening to the intricacies of the music. truly minimal, there are loads of space within the track which is somewhat similar to the original but still a world apart, particularly in the fantastically eerie synth programming. in the forefront of the song is the shimmering and haunting vocal loop, >don t sleep< which has an almost hypnotic effect. (think richie hawtin in closer) the melody of the title is a delicate affair which sips cocktails in the company of some nicely chosen whirring and echoing noises. the build is effected so subtly it verges on melancholy but halfway through a rumbling bassline, appregiated melody and backbeat hi-hat pattern announce a funkier escalation!!
